The Actual Emissions test is a simple procedure and Should typically take about 30 minutes.
It is important that for Each Test (Before/After) the Engine is at a similar operating temperature, this is easy to achieve by repeating your behaviour before each test…
1. Start the car and drive to the garage (15 minutes). Vehicle now at operating temperature.
2. Leave the car running (idle) when waiting for the test (5 minutes). Vehicle maintains operating temperature.
3. Allow the Technician to perform the Tests and provide a Hard-Copy. (10 minutes).
If the above example is for Test¹ (Before) then the same procedure should be followed for Test² (After).
In this way the two tests (Before/After) may be considered valid and should take the same amount of time… Total 60 Minutes.
TIP: It helps print-out the PDF Form & Guide, and then you can show the Garage/Test centre exactly what you require.
They can tell you how long it will take… And the best time of day (Quite time) to do both Tests to avoid waiting times.
